NEW! Rural Track Program (RTP) Designation Questionnaire Added
RTP designation may be obtained either by expanding with a permanent complement increase request and the addition/identification of at least one new rural participating site or at application for a new program. 

Programs in family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, physical medicine and rehabilitation, or psychiatry must now complete a specialty-specific questionnaire when pursuing this designation. Programs in all other specialties do not need to complete a specialty-specific RTP questionnaire.

NEW! View 2023 Annual Educational Conference Sessions Online
Recordings of plenaries and other select sessions are now available in Learn at ACGME. Videos include a panel discussion on the US Supreme Court decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization and its impact on the future of graduate medical education (GME); an interview with US Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, MD, MBA; a panel discussion on the impact of trauma on the health care community; and a conversation with ACGME President and CEO Thomas J. Nasca, MD, MACP on the future of GME. Additional topics include tackling professionalism in residency, developing a GME framework for nutrition and health, and more.

NEW! Updated Milestones Available

Updated versions of the Milestones are now available for the pediatrics subspecialties below. Programs will start using the new Milestones in July 2023, with the first reporting in January 2024. A Supplemental Guide for each subspecialty has also been created as a companion tool; it is available in both Word and PDF format on the Milestones page of the Pediatrics section of the ACGME website. Included in the Supplemental Guide is a mapping of Milestones 1.0 to 2.0.

Submit CLER Visit Blackout Dates 

The window for submitting Clincial Learning Environment Review (CLER) visit blackout weeks is open through April 26, 2023 for blocking off dates in the period highlighted below. Sponsoring Institutions can submit up to four blackout weeks during this period.

 Upcoming Windows for Entering Blackout Weeks

  • April 1-26: Submit requests for July-September 2023
  • July 1-26: Submit requests for October-December 2023
  • October 1-26: Submit requests for January-March 2024
  • January 1-26: Submit requests for April-June 2024

Milestones Year-End Reporting Window Opens April 17

The reporting window will be open Monday, April 17, 2023 through Friday, June 23, 2023. Milestones assessments can be submitted through ADS at any point during this time. FAQs can be found on the ACGME website.

The Health Care of Indigenous Peoples and GME: Where We Are and Where We Need to Go
Dr. Gail Sullivan speaks with Mary Owen, MD; Marghalara Rashid, PhD; and Victor Lopez-Carmen about the health care of Indigenous Peoples and GME. They discuss research from the scoping review by Dr. Rashid et al. and discuss a path forward to a safer and more equitable environment through education and building trust.

ACGME Seeks Transitional Year Review Committee Members
The Transitional Year Review Committee is looking for two new physician members. Candidates must be certified in anesthesiology or surgery through an American Board of Medical Specialties or American Osteopathic Association member board.

Nominations are due by July 1, 2023. The Review Committee will forward its selections to the ACGME Board of Directors for approval. Terms begin July 1, 2024 and end June 30, 2026.

ACGME Seeks Resident/Fellow Members

The following Review Committees seek nominations for their next resident member positions. Nominees must be enrolled in an ACGME-accredited residency or fellowship program at the time of the appointment and may not serve more than one year beyond completion of that residency or fellowship. The Review Committee will forward its selection to the ACGME Board of Directors for approval. Terms begin July 1, 2024 and end June 30, 2026.
